Elijah – Even Prophets Get Depressed
Elijah: Human, just like us
Today, we join together to sing songs of worship, to pray, to hear scripture, and to watch Wally talk on the theme “Elijah: Even Prophets Get Depressed”.

After you’ve watched Wally’s talk and read 1 Kings 19:1-9, you might like to reflect on these things, either on your own, or in a Life Group.
1
Wally said, “The enemy doesn’t attack us when we are at our weakest. Rather, the enemy attacks us in our places of strength”. What do you think?
2
In 1 Kings 19:3, Elijah is afraid and running for his life. What are you fearful or anxious about at this moment in time?
3
Why do you think Elijah prayed “I have had enough, Lord, take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” (1 Kings 19:4)?
4
Have you ever felt like Elijah in this passage? If so, can you share what it was like, and what helped you at that time?
5
In 1 Kings 19:5-7, an angel comes to Elijah, giving him a warm fire, a hot meal and a drink of water, then leaves him to rest before speaking to him. In what ways have you been cared for by God and by others when you most needed it.
6
One of the Ten Commandments is to rest (Exodus 20:8-11). What does it mean to rest, and how do you rest and replenish your energy (both outside lockdown and within lockdown)?
7
Wally said, “don’t tie your self-worth to your achievements and success but ground yourself in God’s love”. What does that mean for you?
8
Mental Health Awareness Week this year is between 18th to 24th May. What areas of mental health do you need to learn about, in order to help yourself and help others you know.
9
Now pray for your own mental wellbeing, and the mental wellbeing of those you know. You might like to read the prayer of David in Psalm 142.
